"No matter how good technology gets, if you start too fast, you will crash and burn at the end. Burn through your glycogen stores too quickly, then gels or jellybabies, you can effectively say goodbye to a strong finish - most likely losing all those minutes you thought you had in the bag as a buffer, at the end. For me, running as even a pace as possible was key to all my best races. That means the effort felt easy at the start, and it felt like l was holding back. Know yourself. Go into race day with an achievable target and sensible plan to achieve that... and stick to it... and you will increase your chances of getting the result you want."
